MEMS Graduate, Shane Shahrestani (PhD '21) Named to Forbes 2025 30 Under 30 in Science
Shane Shahrestani (PhD '21), an alumnus of the Andrew and Peggy Cherng Department of Medical Engineering, has been named to the 2025 Forbes "30 Under 30 in Science" list. Shahrestani, along with Alexander Ballatori, is recognized as a co-founder of StrokeDx, a company that develops portable imaging devices capable of determining stroke types in patients within minutes. Professor Tai's research focuses on bio/medical devices, and his leadership has been a driving force behind the success of the Andrew and Peggy Cherng Department of Medical Engineering (MedE). In addition to serving as the first Leadership Chair and Executive Officer of MedE, he was inducted into the National Academy of Engineering in 2021.
