The Caltech Micromachining Lab is in the department of Electrical Engineering, students in the lab graduate with a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering. However, applicants do not have to have EE undergrad background. In fact, the Caltech Micromachining Lab welcomes all prospective graduate student applicants who feel that they can contribute to our MEMS Research. It is important for applicants to realize that there is no "typical" applicant. For example, graduate and current members of the Lab do have very diverse backgrounds such as
- Aerospace Engineering
- Applied Physics
- Computer Engineering
- Computer Science
- Electrical Engineering
- Engineering and Applied Science
- Mechanical Engineering
- Navy Architecture and Ocean Engineering
Students who are interested in our graduate program are encouraged to follow the general Caltech Graduate Admission process. It is important, however, to state in your application your interest to pursue MEMS research in the EE department.
Please do not contact the lab directly.
